And the yeti? You’ll just have to watch…

Worlds First Umbrella Skydive

Pretty excited to have the Roner family come visit and shoot in Encinitas! It was the perfect mix of work and play. Although the main portion of the upcoming episode was a stunt that required Erik to hang from a hot air balloon and attempt the worlds first umbrella skydive. This stunt definitely added a little extra conversation to every beach day, meal, car ride, etc.
From the video it looks like a quick and fun, last minute, hair brained idea, but in reality it was months of planning and a bit of a logistical nightmare that involved several trips to REI and home depot.
Luckily everything went according to plan and I think the episode turned out great! Erik clocked a 6 second free-fall and you can definitely see that it was successful in slowing him down. After the jump Erik expressed an awful lot of interest in ways to create a stronger umbrella, so it’s safe to assume that this isn’t the last you’ll see of this stunt. Make sure to check out the episode, “like” it, and comment! Erik has been answering questions in the comments of videos as well, so feel free to leave a query.
